FACT OF THE DAY: On February 5, 1969, ABC aired the premiere episode of “Turn-On,” a comedy variety show. Broadcast officials were immediately alarmed by its sexual and political humor, and at least one station (WEWS in Cleveland) did not return to the show after its first commercial break. Some West coast stations refused to air it, and ABC canceled the show before the first episode was over.
