FACT OF THE DAY: On November 18, 1833, the Leonid meteor shower over North America produced between 100,000 and 200,000 visible meteors in nine hours, or 3-7 meteors every second for the entire night. American Indians who witnessed the shower said that it prophesied the end of the world.
