FACT OF THE DAY: The first known reference to Friday the 13th as an unlucky day was Thomas Lawson’s 1907 novel of the same name, where a stock trader chooses the day to deliberately crash the stock market. The superstition’s first appearance in the media was a passing reference in the New York Times on March 14, 1908.

Kevin’s been making stuff up for 40 years, 17 of them as a part of the Austin improv community. He teaches at Merlin Works. He runs the AIC Facebook group and nightly theater listings.
