FACT OF THE DAY: On Friday, 14-year-old Karthik Nemmani correctly spelled “koinonia” to win the Scripps National Spelling Bee after his opponent Naysa Modi misspelled “Bewusstseinslage.” The top three finishers were all from the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
