FACT OF THE DAY: The film “Blade Runner” got its title from an unrelated science fiction novel that sat on the bookshelf of cowriter Hampton Fancher and caught his eye during the scriptwriting process. No explanation for the title is given in the film, besides to say that protagonist Rick Deckard is one.
