FACT OF THE DAY: “Boxing Day” began as a tradition of giving alms to the needy on the day after Christmas. Samuel Pepys’s diary of 1663 makes mention of “Christmas boxes” carried by tradesmen to collect this money.

LIE OF THE DAY: “Boxer Day” is a completely separate holiday where everyone shows off the ugly-ass underwear their parents gave them for Christmas.
